The hair on a bug's hiney

I just purchase a few macro filters a couple of weeks ago that are supposed to allow me to take really really close up pictures.  So here's my first attempt.  Yesterday I found this little fellow outside on the flowers.  Can anyone count the hairs on his legs?  The flower was about an inch in circumference.  That's close, huh??

Here Kitty Kitty!

Some time ago a friend of mine thought she may be allergic to her kitten Peanut so I agree to take it for a while until another friend (who'd agreed to take her) came to get her.

Well, she didn't work out at the other friend's house because the cat she already owned was quite a bit older and a kitten was too rambunctious and frustrated the dickens out of her older cat so I brought Peanut back to my house and took another cat someone had given me to her house.  This cat was quite a bit older and got along with her cat much better than the kitten.  (Yes, just call me the cat lady….people must see that stamped on my forehead for they are often trying to give me cats.)  Oh, and did I mention my hubbie has a very humble dislike for cats??

So now I have this kitty that we have come to call the “Foster Kitty” who's real name is Peanut.  Well, Foster Kitty (Peanut) is now pregnant.  Guess I waited too long for that vet trip, huh?

So I tell you all this to say we are getting ready for some pretty cool homeschool REAL LIFE experiences at my house.  I've never seen a cat give birth so I hope I'm around when she does.  I have no idea how far along she is but I do know their gestation period is about 60 days.  She's got a nice wobble to her now.

God has provided for us in yet another way by causing this cat to take an unmistakable liking to our babysitter, Ruth.  She takes to Ruth like she's taken to no one else and thinks Ruth hung the moon.  So Ruth has agreed to take Peanut and her nursing kittens back to nursing school with her in August.  Yea Ruth!!!!  and YEA GOD!!!

We both are going to try to find homes for the kittens so if any of you HSBers out there want a sweet adorable well loved kitten I AM YOUR WOMAN!

I can't wait to post pictures of the birth.  Oh, how I hope God allows me to be a part of it (from purely an observation standpoint)!

Ok, now what???

Well now that we are back from the beach where my children ran with wild abandon for a week they have completely lost their minds now that we are home.  They have no idea how to entertain themselves, they are driving me and one another crazy and I'm going to list them on EBAY if it goes much further!!  Anybody bidding?

So I need your help.  My kids are 7,6,4,2.  We do not have a pool but have friends with pools so that occupies some time.  I'm not a fan of lots of TV or Playstation.

HELP me!  What do your kids do all summer?  I can not constantly entertain them as they want me to.  Please, please give me your suggestions, ideas or anything else?

Nope, no new photos….

Yes, I'm safely at the beach but having to deal with dial up.  Oh, how horrible!!  So….I've not got any new photos to post because of the cave (oh, the front row beach house) I'm vacationing in.  My great aunt is a saint to allow her family to use such a beautiful home.  We spent all day on the beach and will probably do so again tomorrow.  We have a belated Father's Day Sunset Cruise planned.

Do I really have to go back home????

Until…..

Off to the beach (again)

We've spent the last several days at mom's house and at the pool.  Tomorrow morning we leave for the beach.  My kids are so excited.  We're going to spend lots of time on the beach, probably do some fishing, go see Cars AGAIN (mama hasn't seen it), eats lots of yummy seafood, scrapbook and take lots of pictures.

Can you believe I've been away from home for two days and have not yet taken a picture?  You'd think I had a fever HUH?

Ronda has been helping me redesign my blog.  It's actually harder than I thought.  She's doing such a great job.  I just have trouble deciding on something I won't get bored with.  I tend to get bored and need to rearrange things quite a bit.

I hope you all have a terrific weekend.
Oh, my 7 year old journaled today without being asked!!  Yippee!  I love those small accomplishments….he sounded out all the words by himself, only misspelled a few and wrote an entire sentence!  I'm so proud of him!!!!!!

Back from the beach

Well, I'm back from my 3 days of rest in Ocean Isle.  What a wonderful time!  And to top it off I got my rental car free.  No kidding!  What a wonderful Jesus we have!!

Enterprise was supposed to pick me up but didn't.  Then the car wasn't full of gas or clean.  I was so unhappy and my hubbie was mad at the way the manager talked to me on the phone so we were already getting 1 day free.  But when I dropped off the car today the manager told me the rental was free!  After all the headache on Friday I was so thankful they did the right thing.  I certainly was NEVER going to rent from them again.  At least now I'll entertain the thought.

Yes, I was blessed.  God is so good.
So I had a great and restful time AND drove the rental car for free!

Yippee!!!

Now we pack for our family beach trip tomorrow and leave Thursday morning to see my folks.  We'll stop for a few days to see them and then all head to the coast.

Oh I love summer!

A Time for Rest…..

I am happily enjoying my belated Mother's Day weekend away by myself.  My wonderful husband graces me with a weekend away almost every Mother's Day.  He and I have both learned that a little rest goes a long way for mom!!  So once again I find myself in Ocean Isle, NC visiting my friend Sandy.  It was in this general area that I met another HSBer just a few months ago.  What a treat!

But back to the Resting…

It's taken me a few days to settle into “not being constantly needed”.  It's a strange feeling as a mom to get to a true place of rest.  After a Saturday filled with shopping, yummy food and pampering our toesies I think I'm finally at the place of rest.  My body has realized it's not constantly on call, my brain hasn't heard “MOMMY!!!!” for a day and a half now and I've actually slept through the night without some sweet little thing shaking me quietly saying, “mom….mom….are you awake?”.

What a wonderful feeling to be able to step back from my family and rest.  Jesus rested.  I know we are to follow his example.  But we all know as mom's it's a rare thing to have time to rest.

I'm thankful to God and to my husband for allowing me the time away to recharge my batteries.  The best part is when I return home we have one day until our whole family leaves for the beach for our family vacation!  Yippee.  I may never return home and this year I might actually have a little bit of a tan!

Wishing you all rest….

BOYS will be BOYS!!

I don't know but it doesn't look fair to me!!  Three against One!

Friends are a blessing

Yesterday we spent the evening at a friend's pool until the sun vanished from the sky.  We had a beautiful sunset, yummy hamburgers and wonderful fellowship.  Since this nameless friend has forbidden me and my camera near her house I'm sharing photos of my kids, not her.  Believe me, my friend will thank me.  Although very outgoing she IS a little camera shy and wishes NOT to be seen by the world at large.
(Who does she think reads these blogs anyway??)

Baby girl found herself a bowl of watermelon and
was happy as a lark.

My very favorite two year old in the whole entire
world!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite four year old and my friends kitty.

And two of my favorite guys in the whole world!!!

Today's my 7 year old's first day out of school so we're off to the pool again in a few minutes.  Tonight's it's Dominos!!!

By the way Michelle, I've decided a Diet Coke, chocolate and a nap is the cure for anything that ails ya!!!
Happy Happy Summer…
