Football…it’s that time of year.

Ann’s blog at Resolved to Worship never ceases to touch my heart.  Her son Scott broke his hand and will be unable to play football this year.  It just breaks my heart to know this sweet little boy’s dreams of football this year have vanished.  Ann has such a sweet way of pointing her family to Jesus.  Check out her blog here and her post about Scott here.  And please remember to pray that Scott’s hand would heal, sounds like it was a pretty nasty break.

Our football season has begun here too.  Both of the older boys are on different teams this year.  I watched our oldest son practice last night.  He moved up an age bracket this year and is playing with the 9-10 year olds. While my husband has stayed behind to coach our younger son’s team our oldest is making his way with the older boys (sniff, sniff)

Warming up before practice…..

This series shows him doing those belly buster things….
They make me sick just watching.

And this little fellow has got to be the cutest thing….
He’s the coach’s grandson

Now for practicing the plays they are learning…

while baby girl makes a new friend and gets covered in SC red dust.

Remember to pray for Ann, her family and Scott….

Always in HIM….

Family Fun

This weekend my sister and her family came to visit on Friday and then my mother in law arrived on Saturday.  My hubbie preached at church on Sunday so the troops were in for the big day.

Saturday we took a trip to the park.  I took some pics of my sister’s family.  I ended up liking this one the best.  It’s so candid and unposed.
With a little watercolor touch……

And here’s a funky one of my and my nieces.  My sister took this one.

More later!  My laptop’s battery is dying!!!
Always in HIM…

Storms and Blessings and Friends

We have a very good friend who lives here:
Isn’t her house beautiful?

And she has this beautiful gorgeous stunning thing in her yard:
Come to mama!!

And lots of these this time of year:

We’re blessed to be able to enjoy her yard during the summer.
There are lots of these around:

And these:

And her yard has cool things you just don’t have when four children run around all the time:
(I often go there to remember what it’s like to be an adult)

The day before yesterday we had a sudden severe storm sweep through our neighborhood/community and lightening struck a tree in her front yard.  This is what lightening looks like when it runs down a BIG tree…..

Here’s the hole the lightening bolt made beside the tree where all the shards are in the above photo:
Freaky huh??

Here’s another angle of the way the lightening bolt ripped the bark from the tree:

One of the scariest things about all of this was that the tree is only this far away from the house:

And sent these all over the yard:

Today a tree guy took the tree out for her saying that it would certainly die, nothing much can survive a strike like that I guess.

I stood in awe yesterday of God’s power, his might and his protection over this sweet couple’s house.

And I just had to share!

Baseball, Lakes and Tongues

I took these at the lake several weeks ago.
Isn’t he cute???

A bad day

Saturday was a bad day here.  Our middle son was stung by a bee while swimming.  You see the results below and then as we were getting in the car to go have dinner we got too close to a yellow jacket nest and I got stung, as did baby girl.  The good news?  My oldest, who is allergic to yellow jackets, did not get stung!!!

Let me tell you those nasty little guys are aggressive!

Here’s our poor baby after his lip was about half the size it started out…..

Today, Monday, it’s still swollen and goes through various degrees of “swellingness” throughout the day.  (I know, that’s not a word!)

Any suggestions?  I’m trying a tea bag as I type.

Thanks,
IN HIM and thankful for HIS protection over our oldest….

Perfection isn’t what it used to be

Before getting married and having kids perfection meant something entirely different than it does now.  Once upon a time it meant that everything was done just so, looked just so and worked just so.

Now it means that someone, something is exactly as they are…..just as God made them.  Photos aren’t perfect, people aren’t perfect, things aren’t perfect…..well, not in the everyday sense of the word.  But things, people and circumstances are perfectly okay.

Take this strand of hair for example…..
I pondered this photo for a long time wondering if I wanted to put the effort into removing it.  Finally I decided I’d rather adjust my idea of perfect and remember the warm windy day, my baby girl’s bed head and PJ’s just as they were yesterday… perfectly designed.  So here’s my baby girl…..in a perfectly imperfect photo!

(If you want to view my Freaky Friday Foto I posted it yesterday.  Just keep scrolling down)

Always in HIm,

Rainbows and Photoshop

As we were leaving the lake last week it rained for a bit before the sun (Son) came out again.  I was driving out of the park when between the trees we spotted this beautiful rainbow.  It really was magnificent and hard to capture in it’s spectacular beauty.  As always I’m reminded of God’s promises to us, to me, as I gaze in wonder at such a awesome sight.

I slammed the car into park and climbed down an embankment to get this glimpse between the trees.  Since I had a hard time capturing the rainbow in all it’s glory I tried using Photoshop to allow you guys to see what I really saw that day.

Before a little saturation and help from Photoshop….

And after….this really was how magnificent the rainbow was!!  Where it ended on this patch of sandy shore was the most wonderous glow.  It was almost as if the beach was on fire.

Lots of times I think I use Photoshop to make something appear better than it actually was but this time it was to show you guys just how awesome something REALLY looked.

Isn’t God good?
What are the promises He’s made to you?

Always in Him…..

Family Tradition at the beach #3

THE SUNSET CRUISE
One more thing we always manage to do at the beach is to take a sunset cruise.  It’s aboard this awesome catamaran.  We’ve done it for so many years now that I’ve forgotten how many.  We leave from Beaufort NC and travel out for about an hour and the sun sets as we come back into dock.  Here are some photos of our trip this year.

Some photos where you actually can seem me!  (snapped by my kids or my mom)

Middle son in the nets…..

Dad and daughter in the nets looking at…..

this!  wow, huh??

Oldest son at the helm….

What we all came for…..a beautiful NC sunset over the barrier islands

Hope you liked!

On the Road Again…..

Well today I’m off again.  This time it’s with my sister to the Deeper Still conference in Atlanta.  I can’t wait to tell you all about it.  Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirer will be there.  Most of the Bible Studies I’ve been doing in the past several years have been Beth Moore studies and the first one I ever did was Kay Arthur.

My sister and I haven’t done anything alone together since about 10 years ago when we went to a Mary Kay Seminar by ourselves.  Yep, time for some girl time.

Here is a photo from the beach of my sister, me and baby girl.
More from Atlanta!

Everything is sweeter at the beach!

I love my boys!

Even more so under skies like these!
Greetings from the beach!
