Summer?

Today I’m taking a break from beach photos to show you what’s going on in our house.  Nothing really exciting but I alway enjoy seeing where you guys live.  It’s one way internet friends begin to know a little more about one another.

Okay, so If someone blindfolded you and walked you into my house while we were gone you could tell that it’s summer from the laundry room and the clothes waiting to be folded.  Here’s what you’d see….

Baby girls swimsuit drying in the laundry room, all the swim shirts hung to dry and the super cool gardening bag that I got at Hobby Lobby and use it to house all of our sunscreen….

Our vast array of swim shirts…

Mommy’s swim suit washing in the washing machine…

and a laundry basket full of beach towels…..

Yep, it’s definitely summer here!

We spent yesterday afternoon at the lake and didn’t get home until almost 11pm last night.  It was a great afternoon and evening swimming, fishing and boating.  There’s this terrific waterfall we played in until almost dark last night (sorry, no photos of that) and then we built a campfire.  It was hard to believe how chilly it got after the sun went down.

What are you guys doing this summer???

Another beach favorite

One of the things I buy at the beach that I do not buy a lot of at home is that huge jug-o-goldfish.  You know the one.  It’s shaped like a milk cartoon and is just hu-mon-gous!

My kids did a good job of eating them the first part of the week but then they slowly became snacks for us and the seagulls.

Here’s a picture of the kids filling the seagull’s bellies…

And here’s one of my handsome beach boy son throwing Frisbee wlith his dad

More tomorrow!!!

Lots of Crabs….a family tradition.

One of our favorite things we do at the beach is ghost crab hunting at night.  Well, my husband and the kids do this while I anxiously await to see the night’s catch.  I think we could be on the show “The Deadliest Catch” and rival even the best episodes.

Standing on the deck of our house you can see their head lamps bobbing up and down as the crab hunters make their way across the sand in the dark of the night hunting unsuspecting crabs.  Thus far my husband has been the one who actually picks them up to place them in the bucket after they’re netted.  And he has the battle wounds to prove it!

While this family tradition has gone on for years now I think a new one began this year.  I’m beginning to wonder if the whole family is going a little crabby!

Somehow baby girl found a pink crab attached to her face…..YIKES!

This one was captured by my mom as two unsuspecting crabs passed by….

Makes a girl wonder~

We're home

It was hard to do but we left the beach for the long trip home on Sunday.  We stopped at my mom’s to spend the night and finished the trip today.  It was in the 80s with a beautiful ocean breeze all week and now it’s 90 something and HOT!  I think I want to go back.
We had a great time.  Here are a few pictures….
When we arrived this sweet mama bird was nursing her babies and before we left they flew!  It was exciting and very neat to watch.  They grew so fast!!!

And here’s my every handsome middle son on the beach with his dog Sparky.

More tomorrow!  As I try to glide back into re-entry!

Everything is sweeter at the beach!

I love my boys!

Even more so under skies like these!
Greetings from the beach!

Standing on my head from the beach

If I sit just right with my feet on the wall in one room of the beach house I get someone’s internet connection….
Yippee!
So Happy Father’s Day all you dads!  I and we love you!

Here’s the fun we’re having at the beach!

Farewell!

This is my last post until after we get back from vacation unless I can find a highspeed connection somewhere on the NC Coast.  I’m exhausted after three marvelous days in the sun at the lake.  We had a blast.

My hubbie is in NY meeting with Channel….oh la la!  His company makes the boxes the products come in.  And I’m spending tomorrow at dr appointments and packing for the beach.

I’ll then meet him at the airport to pick him up on Thursday and off we go!!!  You guys leave me lots of sweet notes so I won’t miss blogging so badly!

Here’s a couple pictures from our three days at the lake:

Bon Voyage!!!

Guess where we’re spending our time???

Lots of this (above)

Makes for some very thirsty kids! (below)

What are you doing with your summer????

Last day of school!

Today was the very last day of school.  We celebrated by swimming last night and today.  Food was in order too as we dined at Pizza Hut last night for dinner.  What a treat….we ended up at Pizza Hut on buffet night.  You should have seen my guys eat.  My littlest one…you know, the one with straight A’s this year.  Yep, that’s him….He ate more than I did.  I think I’ve seen the very first of “You mean we can eat all we want?”  If I counted correctly he had two pieces of pizza, a plate of peaches and a gazillion cinnamon sticks.  He out-ate both of his older brothers.  Must be something about being so smart this year made him hungry last night.  While he graduated from K5 the other homeschooled kids got trophies from mom and dad!

Boys!!!

A Proud Week

This has been a proud week for us.  I think I forget sometimes that one of the important purposes of our homeschooling is to raise kids who love Jesus and can function in our world which is full of people who do not.   This can be accomplished through school at home or through regular school.  Some of you who read my blog know that we have two children in a local Christian school.  One was in second grade this year and the other was in K5.

If I had to do it over again there are times I wish I’d kept our K5er home.  I think a full day was too much for him.  A half day program would have been better.  But we persevered (which was very hard) and he graduated, complete with cap and gown, last night.  It was one of those few sweet moments in parenthood when your heart just bursts with pride over your child’s accomplishments.

Both children that were in school this year will be at home next year.  Our son who was in K5 is ready to be home but our rising 3rd grader wants to go back to school.  I’m praying very hard that God would change his heart towards next year.  I’ve felt that the Lord wants them home for this coming year.

So here’s a few pictures from last night.  One I tried to snap of the entire family since we were looking so dapper and several of our
all A’s Graduate!
(yep grandparents you can be proud of your next to the littlest!)

(Can I also add as a side note that taking photos inside a building is horrible.  I don’t know how you guys who take wedding photos do it.  I don’t think I ever got the lighting correct!  Then we went outside and it just got worse because I had 4 people waiting for me in the car and didn’t get to change any camera settings.)
