UPDATE

Just wanted to update everyone praying for Austin and his family.  Austin was taken off life support on Sunday (again) and this time he did not breath on his own.  Please pray for his family as they deal with something I can not even imagine dealing with.  Austin Green was 11 years old and the family has set up a Memorial Fund in his name at People’s Bank in SC.  The proceeds go to the Liberty Recreation Department.  If you would like to donate you can contact
Peoples National Bank is located at:
424 Hampton Ave.
Pickens, S.C.
29671

Please pray for his family with me.
IN HIM,
julie

"Never understanding His way but always trusting in His heart"

Asking for prayer

Wednesday night was a tragic night in our little town in south.  A church bus carrying children from a Wednesday night church service back home crashed with 10 children and 1 bus driver inside.  The bus tumbled down a steep embankment and pinned the driver inside against a tree.  Most all the kids went to the ER but one has broken his neck and has no brain activity.  Except through God’s intervention he will not live.  Please pray for him.  His name is Austin.

The bus driver may have lost both legs.  That has not been confirmed through the media but was told to me by a friend who is a first responder EMT.

The tragedy has rocked our small community.  The church bus belongs to the Church and Christian School where two of my children attend.   Both of my boys have ridden the bus several times for field trips.  My 6 year old knows the bus driver and is incredibly sad for him and his family.

How fragile life is.  At any moment, anytime God can call us home.  We never know.  Grief, pain, and sorrow can enter our hearts in the blink of an eye.  And what do we do with the pain if we have no hope?  That, I just can not imagine.

How thankful am I for today?  How often do I praise Him in the mundane routine of my life?  How often does my heart wander away from what has been given to me?  "What if………?".  Am I joyful in today?  Am I thankful for each heartbeat in the chest of my children?

Wednesday night was a terribly cold and foggy night.  Visibility was horrible.  Please join me in praying for all the families, the bus driver and Austin.  Be thankful today for what it is….another chance to love, to show others His glory and to touch someone’s life.

Thanks,
julie

What my name means…

What Julie Means

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.
You never give up, and you will succeed… even if it takes you a hundred tries.
You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you’re so lucky, you don’t really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You’re sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don’t get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

That’s pretty much me except for the fact I don’t mind rocking the boat!  Check out your name’s meaning here:

Just a hello

Well, I’m 4 day post-op now and doing well.  I had to go to the dermatologist this morning and I’m pooped now.  Baby girl and I are sacked up in the bedroom watching Wonder Pets.  And a nap is imminent.   My knee is healing nicely with more mobility each day.  I’m just amazed at how much anesthesia takes out of you.  I’m hoping to make it to the Sauna another day this week to help my body get rid of the anesthesia.

Oh, for you photography buffs Snapfish has some great things on sale right now.  Their New Year’s Clearance of 40% off has been extended through January 19th.  (www.snapfish.com)

Any of you guys want to run for president so I’ll have someone to vote for?

Off to snooze….
Have a good day.
Julie

Recovering from knee surgery

Friday afternoon I had outpatient knee surgery.  I’m recovering well and have had lots of help.  I’m hobbling around, using the crutches some and resting whenever possible.  I appreciate any prayers for a quick recovery.  Four children makes recovery a necessity!!!

Reading Fluency

I wondered if any of you have some suggestions to help with reading fluency or decoding for a 3rd grader.  My son is reading at the 3rd grade level and is doing well but his fluency and rate of speed are quite low which frustrates him.  If you have any tricks that have helped or know of a program that I can use please let me know.

Peanut Butter Brain

I know we all have those days when we feel like there is peanut butter in between our ears instead of brains.  Today is that day for me.  So I’m reciting over and over "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."  Thankfully it’s all him today and none of me.
Is that the way I’m always supposed to be?
Hmmm…..
I think, yes.
So does he allow my peanut butter brain so I will press into him more?
Again, I think yes.
When my decision making isn’t clear, when nothing makes sense to me it all makes sense to him.
I’m really glad I belong to him.
He’s a pretty cool guy to depend on.  Sees all, hears all, knows all.
Sometimes I wonder why I don’t depend upon him more often.

Something to ponder in my peanut butter brain today….

IN HIM,
julie
