More White Balance Practice

Alyssa over at Live and Learn has been kind enough to teach those of us further behind her in the quest for awesome photography a thing or two about White Balance. (click here for her tutorial)
Here are some more shots I took on Tuesday while waiting the the never-ending car line to pick up two of my boys that do attend school outside of our home.

I had this tennis shoe of my daughter’s in the car so it was perfect to work with seeing that it was white.  Which one do you think is the closest to true color?
Alyssa, what do you think???

    Hey Julie!

The auto definitely has some cool (blue) tones going on and the SUN has a teeny bit too. The shade is a bit too warm (orangish). The CUSTOM and CLOUDY are the best, IMO. 🙂

You asked about my camera bag- I have a Lowepro bag that I purchased at my local camera store. It's kind of big & bulky to carry around, but I love that I can store my: camera with lens attached, 3 other lenses, gray card, extra batteries and memory cards and some cables and other small things. It has dividers that you can change around to suit your needs too. You may want to pick out your bag in person vs. online so you can try it on & see how it feels, see how much space you need, etc.

Also, about sharpening for the web: it's called USM (unsharp mask). I can't remember if Elements has this or not. It defogs and sharpens- you lose some sharpness when you resize to post online and it restores and enhances that sharpness.

    Love, Alyssa
