Football Weekend
Many of you may know (yea right!) that here on the East Coast Appalachian State University recently beat Michigan in a beginning season upset. My little school, Elon University, played Appalachian this weekend. It was a sold out game with 13,100 people. We traveled there to visit my folks and to go to the game.
13,100 people! … let me tell you, for Elon, that’s a lot of people. It was a good game and Elon held their own through most of the game. Appalachian did win but Elon put on a good show!
Here are a few pictures from the game. We had grass seats so we arrived 2 hours early to claim our spots. Here’s #2 son with a giant pretzel before the game……
Here are some or country’s finest parachuting into the stadium before the game.
It was really cool to see these guys. They doubled into the stadium.
Here are my hubbie and oldest son watching Elon warm up.
And this guy walked around with a puppet. The boys loved it. My two oldest are in the "My Maroon is Hot" shirts.
What did you do this weekend?

Don’t even ask!
Craft of the Century
Today several of my homeschool mom friends and I took our kids to the local scrapbook store, Main Street Memories, for a fun field day trip to make Paperbag Scrapbooks (lunch bag size). Have you seen these before? We had so much fun! Here are pictures from today…
My friend Marian working with her daughter Malerie
My friend DeDe working with her daughter Claire
The proud scrapbooker!
The older boys really got into it too!!
And the younger ones were quite content with puzzles after they got tired of scrapbooking.
My little fashion bug showing off her ballerina stickers on her scrapbook.
Here is the end result. This is my son’s scrapbook!
And in the open end of the paper bag there is room for a tag. It’s pictured here. Cool, huh?
And on the end of the bag where the bottom fold is there’s place to do a little flap work.
Here’s some of the pictures my son added to his album.
If any of you want to know how to do the entire craft it’s simple. Take 3-4 lunch bag size paper bags, punch holes in the middle of them where you can run a ribbon to use as the spine of the scrapbook. Paper size is cut at 5.5 by 5.5 and fit well on each page. You can theme the pages or do each one seperately. The tabs that go inside the open part of the paper bags are just a bit smaller and can have a simple die cut or ribbon added onto them so that you can easily pull them from their protective pocket. Add stickers, diecuts or ribbon to embellish the book. Oh, they are such great fun! And you can do them at home!!!!
Christmas is coming early around here this year!
My youngest son saw this craft in a Chick-Fil-A book today and wanted to make it when we got home. Looks like one trick-or-treat costume is taken care of, huh??

Quote of the day…
My husband is a runner. Always has been. I wish I was a runner but my 6’2" body just wasn’t built for it. Now swimming? That’s a different story…..
So, my husband comes back from running the other day and my 3 year old daughter runs up to hug him not knowing what hugging a sweaty daddy is like and squeals (in her best high pitched 3 year old voice), "Dad, you’re all squishy!"
What a hoot!
That's my boy!
See the handsome guy in the middle #25???
That’s my boy!!!
Freaky Friday Foto
Well, today is Freaky Friday Foto AGAIN and I’ve nothing to post. Not because there’s not plenty out there that’s freaky but because it’s been a crazy week.
My best friend had to put her cat down this week and that has been horrible for both of us. It’s been so sad watching her grieve the loss of her 15 year companion. She was the sweetest thing. This is the first time I’ve gone through the whole experience and I empathize with any of you who have ever had to do that. I cried so much yesterday my eyes where swollen for my date night with my husband. We tried to go see that new movie about the Apollo mission, Rod Howard did it, but it wasn’t on at the local theater. So we ended up at StuffMart instead. Some swap, huh?
So in honor of Katie, my friend’s sweet little cat, I will not post a photo today.
Rest in peace dear girl. Thanks for all the years of love you gave MY best friend.
IN HIM,
Julie
