Hello there

It’s been kind of a crazy couple days.  I’ve had very little to say as well.  Those two together means "no posting".  Just wanted to drop in to say hello and list a couple of random things…

1.  Smoke detectors – one of ours went off tonight when a candle was burning too high and making a bit of smoke.  There wasn’t anything near the candle or in danger of catching on fire but the flame was high and apparently that was making a bit of smoke.  When it went off I figured the batteries were low but when I walked into the room you could barely see the smoke at the top of the room.  One very sensitive smoke alarm of which I’m very thankful because I know now that the least little bit of smoke in my home and that thing would be going off!  Yea, go check those batteries!  It’s worth the $10.00 or so you’d spend replacing all the batteries in your house!!!

2.  Abeka and a new school year – We will be using mainly Abeka this year and I am going on Monday to purchase curriculum for all three boys.  Last year I only had one at home.  This year I have all four.  Baby girl will be gone a couple hours each day but the boys are here for the year.  I found an excellent deal on 2 desks and 3 chairs at Stuffmart today and am happy with the way the school room is shaping up.  Pictures to come soon.

3.  No updates yet  – on the thing I asked you to pray for.  Hopefully there will be a breakthrough soon!  But I promised to keep you who are praying posted.

Did I ever show you this picture?  What a gas!  I laugh at the drying techniques used at the camp grounds where I took this picture.  Only in SC!

I guess that’s it for now.
IN HIM alone…

Yep, it's summer here!

This box is on the front porch waiting to go to the dump (no garbage service in them there woods!) …

And the actual water gun hangs from our railing…

This hangs from the lamp post.  Put there last night after a day at the lake…

And these are on the front porch drying after being scrubbed with Greased Lightening (the best cleaner in the world)

Yep, summer!

Today and hormones

Today was just one of those days I woke up funky.  We had planned to go see the free movie “Surf’s Up” with friends and then spend the day at the lake.  What I really wanted to do was hide in a hole and growl.  That sounded like fun, huh?  The movie was really cute though and after we got to the lake I read in Revelations for a while.  I love Revelations.  It’s so graphic, mysterious and awesome!  I can just see Jesus’ feet shining like bronze, his hair while as snow and his eyes like fire.  COOL!!

By the end of the day (now) I’m feeling better after a nice day at the lake, grilled hamburgers and fun with friends.  I prayed hard all day for the Lord to calm my raging hormones.  Ugh.  Don’t you hate those things?  I wonder what hormones were like BEFORE the fall?  It had to be a piece of cake, maybe even enjoyable!

Now I find myself in the camper under our carport with all three children sleeping as I blog.  The rain gently falls on the driveway as the crickets and night time bugs hum away outside.  I’m getting ready to catch some Zzzz’s too.  Maybe tomorrow will be hormone free!

I also would like all of you praying sisters out there to lift up someone really special in my life.  I can’t tell you who right now and I can’t tell you what but her family is sitting pretty for a miracle (as Beth Moore says).  And they need one, well…..three, really!  If the Lord leads will you please lift up my special someone in prayer?

I’ll keep you posted on the miracles I just know God is going to give them.

As always….only in Him…

Rainbows and Photoshop

As we were leaving the lake last week it rained for a bit before the sun (Son) came out again.  I was driving out of the park when between the trees we spotted this beautiful rainbow.  It really was magnificent and hard to capture in it’s spectacular beauty.  As always I’m reminded of God’s promises to us, to me, as I gaze in wonder at such a awesome sight.

I slammed the car into park and climbed down an embankment to get this glimpse between the trees.  Since I had a hard time capturing the rainbow in all it’s glory I tried using Photoshop to allow you guys to see what I really saw that day.

Before a little saturation and help from Photoshop….

And after….this really was how magnificent the rainbow was!!  Where it ended on this patch of sandy shore was the most wonderous glow.  It was almost as if the beach was on fire.

Lots of times I think I use Photoshop to make something appear better than it actually was but this time it was to show you guys just how awesome something REALLY looked.

Isn’t God good?
What are the promises He’s made to you?

Always in Him…..

We’re Back!

After traveling for what feels like the better part of the month we’re home.  Here’s a rare family shot (with flash…yuck) from our weekend in Alabama.  We visited my husband’s mom and that side of our wonderful family.  It was loads of fun and we had a great 4th of July.

Happy 4th of July

Hoping you all have a sparkly, blessed and safe
4th of July!

Family Tradition at the beach #3

THE SUNSET CRUISE
One more thing we always manage to do at the beach is to take a sunset cruise.  It’s aboard this awesome catamaran.  We’ve done it for so many years now that I’ve forgotten how many.  We leave from Beaufort NC and travel out for about an hour and the sun sets as we come back into dock.  Here are some photos of our trip this year.

Some photos where you actually can seem me!  (snapped by my kids or my mom)

Children, Cameras and Scary Things

At our middle son’s recent graduation from 2nd grade our oldest son took my Fuji FinePix I keep in my pocket book and decided to snap a few photos of our daughter.

Here’s the photographer’s self portrait:

And here’s our sweet, innocent daughter sitting beside her daddy:

And then, right before the camera’s eye something scary begins to take place:

The transformation was amazing…..I mean, what’s happening???

Are things getting ready to pop from her head?

Or is it just creative photography?

I’m thinking my son has my eye for photographical composition (are those words?) that his mama does.

I'm back!!!

The Deeper Still Conference was wonderful!  Click on the aforementioned link and check out the last photo of the arena!  Wow is that a lot of women or what???  Boo Mama was there, although I didn’t see her.  Beth Moore blogs about the conference here.  There were over 19,000 people there.  More women than I’ve ever seen in one place.   It was just a little overwhelming for an introvert like me.  The Word was fresh and timely and just overall awesome!!  I was so emotionally spent by the end of the conference, wow!

We stayed in the Hilton downtown and learned that valet parking is 24.00 per night.  GULP.  We stayed two nights.

We also learned that big suitcases with rollers is the way to go.  Not the shoulder bags we carried.

We had a great time.  It was awesome and as we were praising I wondered what Atlanta looked like to God … was there a huge shiney spot right in the middle?

On the Road Again…..

Well today I’m off again.  This time it’s with my sister to the Deeper Still conference in Atlanta.  I can’t wait to tell you all about it.  Beth Moore, Kay Arthur and Priscilla Shirer will be there.  Most of the Bible Studies I’ve been doing in the past several years have been Beth Moore studies and the first one I ever did was Kay Arthur.

My sister and I haven’t done anything alone together since about 10 years ago when we went to a Mary Kay Seminar by ourselves.  Yep, time for some girl time.

Here is a photo from the beach of my sister, me and baby girl.
More from Atlanta!
