The sweet middle child

I took this photo of our middle son yesterday after picking him up from school.  I think he’s an awfully cute looking fellow, don’t you?

Works for Me Wednesday

I admit I’m a little at a loss for a good tip on What Works for us….
The thing on my heart most today is homeschooling I think.  Homeschooling works for us.  No carpools, no buses, no lines, no homework, no anything we don’t want in our lives.  We do use school occasionally.  We have two in school this year.  All three boys will be home next year and our daughter will be in a half day K4 program.

You know, what works for us changes sometimes daily, weekly, or monthly.  Each school year is different.  So what works today may not work tomorrow.  And I think we’re good about changing once it doesn’t work anymore.  I remember hearing that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Makes sense to me.

Leaving you with another “works for me”…..always having my camera!  This was taken through my storm door. Aren’t the reflections cool?

Mother’s Day Trip

This past weekend we went to NC to visit my mom, dad, sister and her family.  Here are some shots from the weekend.  My first one is because of Shutter Sisters’ photo for today.

Lightening Clouds on Friday night at about 10pm or so….
(shot at a very high ISO so a little grainy but very cool none the less)

Our oldest son choosing to look sweet for the time being…

Our day at the park….everyone on the train but mom!  “Hi mom!!”…

Dad and his girl…

Crazy boys…

Baby girl at Steak N Shake on the way home…
Hope you all had a great Mother’s Day!!!

Vacation Day 4 (evening)

Even though I’m home now I thought I would post a few picture that I took AT the beach.  I waited for a sunset Monday night until I realized there were too many clouds for a good sunset.  So here’s a few pictures from my walk on the beach….

I think I miss the beach!

Vacation Day #4

While visiting my friend Sandy I got a chance to take pictures of her new granddaughter Lorelei (pronounced Lora-lie).  Here’s one of the best shots…

Isn’t she sweet?
I also got a chance to TRY a self portrait.  Something, if done at home, would bring rounds of “What are you doing mom?”, “Can I do it too?”, “Can I hold your 3 million dollar (just kiddin’) camera?”, “I promise I won’t drop it?”
So here’s my self portrait…

I travel home tomorrow!

Vacation Day 3

This morning I decided to go for a walk after my leisurely cup of coffee and breakfast.  I just walked around Sandy’s neighborhood looking for things to take pictures of.  I don’t have alot of time to just stroll when I’m at home, always rushing from here to there.  So, here’s what I found this morning.

Dandelions…

Azaleas…

Hyacinth…

Reflections that our sluggish economy is still moving…

I’m guessing they don’t want you stepping in this puddle, huh??

And a reminder that getting out of debt is a good thing because one day I may be able to afford a home at the beach like this one…

Happy Easter Weekend and Family Time

Just point and shoot!  That is what we did this weekend while my sister and her family were visiting.  No time to worry about settings and all jazz.  Just shoot.
Here is one of my favorites.  My third born is showing his Aunt Lyn all about the treasures he found in the stream.  And baby girl awaits her turn.  I just love this shot and the interaction between my sister and my children.

Here are the treasures my sister got to see before any of the rest of us……treasures from the sea….

Treasures for a KING!

President’s Day

Today earned us a much needed break from school.  I still think we should work 4 days and take 3 off.  That just suits my personality so much better than work 5 take 2 off.  Who made that rule?

Anyway…since two of my kids were out of school today the one I homeschool naturally took the day off too.  We enjoyed doing nothing today because tomorrow is a “hit the ground running” kind of day.

Next year I am homeschooling all three boys.  Our two middle boys are enrolled at a local Christian school this year.  I’m looking forward to having next year with them.  I don’t like running in the car all day long.  Dropping off at school, picking up from school and the rest that goes in between ends up with us spending a lot of time in the car.

This year has been a great learning experience for me.  I’ve become a better organized mom.  I plan my days better and I actually create lesson plans. (GASP)  I’ve grown as much as a homeschool mom as my children have as students.  I think I learn as much if not more than they do each year.

I know next year will bring even more challenges while I try to keep three rambunctious boys on task.  Any suggestions????

I tell you all this to lead into these pictures I’ve been waiting to post.  This is what we do when we are not “doing” school.  I did say rambunctious didn’t I??

The Flying Boy…

and the flying girl…

Oh yea!  I’m toast!
