After a morning of Bible, then a cute halloween craft, we meandered outside for God's homeschool lesson of the day.
Now, don't think I'm some supermom. I didn't do much Bible all last week, in fact I've let it slide too much this school year. So this morning I began with Bible. We prayed together and then read about Jesus' crucification and resurrection. Afterwards we worked on a cute Halloween craft I got at Michaels. I meant to photograph it too but alas, all you're getting is bugs. So today I laid aside math, language and spelling for “putting first things first”.
On our ventures outside today we ran across a small praying mantis, lots of spiders, a huge praying mantis, and a small snake. Yes, we played with the snake some too but let it go before I could get to the camera. I was scared the boys would squish it before I got it back to safety.
Here's what's in our yard….how 'bout yours?
His defense posture….so cool to watch!!

Great photos! Love the ones of your boys…boys and bugs! The spider web is amazing.
What’s in MY yard? (your post’s title)
ummmm….grass that needs mowing and maybe some deer signs, but nothing cool like a praying mantis!
These kind of days will help your boys love being homeschooled. They will remember “the day when mom let us go look at bugs for school”. How cool that you got to see such a variety too!

Sounds like a wonderful day outside. We love to watch the big spiders around the outside of our house too. We have a huge funnel spider in our boxwoods. I always go look at her after I pull into the garage. It’s so cool. A man from our church is an expert on spiders and he told us the spider was pregnant.
Happy Fall!

p.s. I also loved the entry on your husband, the coach. My dh has coached our kids for years and it amazes me how many families the Lord has allowed us to minister to through sports. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for our children and my husband.
That one looks big enough to carry my laundry basket! Your pictures are great, but I am NOT a bug person by any stretch of the imagination. I run screaming from them. My husband will have to be in charge of those nature lessons…haha! Thanks for sharing your pictures. And I beg to differ….you ARE a super mom!
Love to you….Kathy
