Around the house

Several blogs I've read lately have made me realize that even though we know each other through the blogoshere there are a lot of things we miss by not getting to see one another face to face.  So I thought I'd show you around the house this morning.

This is our front yard and driveway as seen from the front porch.  It's pouring rain today and it's garbage day.

Here's the front porch that leads to the carport.

Here's the foyer and the steps up to the loft where the boys sleep.

Here are the older two watching TV on my bed during our first morning break from school, around 11am.

Here's baby girls room.

Here's my office.

Here's the dining room where everything in our lives gets piled.

Here's the den where the younger two sit watching TV during our break.

The kitchen, where we are doing school today.

Through the double doors in the kitchen to the screened in back porch.

And a look through the screen to the very rainy back yard where my husband has moved and revamped the “firecamp” area.

Hope you enjoyed visiting today.  How are things at your house?  I'd love to see where you live!!
IN HIM,
julie

  2. what a lovely home you have. I gasped as I laid eyes on your porch, I admit to coveting it. I dream of a home with a porch. We just don’t have those in So. CA.

One day we hope to move from here to somewhere we could just have acres of God’s beauty surrounding us.

As for the motorhome, the cab is open to the motorhome, and since our motorhome sleeps 8, we actually have seatbelts for 8 as well. I truly enjoy travelling this way with kids, no need to stop for the bathroom or snacks. I have in the past laid down on a bed while we were driving, too. No it isn’t the safest option, I admit. The kids are able to draw, play games, watch a dvd, or just be. I have three children: 13, almost 11 and 8. One of our favorite things to do with a motorhome is head to the beach for the afternoon. We have time to play in the waves, heat some dinner up, roast marshmellows, and everyone cleans up and puts on jammies for the ride home. It makes for a great evening and we haven’t had to go all that far.

    Have a great day! Jennifer

I wanted to see how you did the boys room though up in the loft. I mean how do you keep them from tossing each other or stuff over the rail?

And I saw your Yankee Candle – I have a new favorite one now – Autumn Wreath!

    Love you all,

    ~Nancy

  4. Julie, I love your screened back porch. What a fun idea. I’ll have to do that this week. We had rain here today, too, and it is forecasted to rain for the next 10 days. This rain is killing me! I plan to take it each, not to push myself and to just try to relax. Easier said than done.

I enjoyed seeing your house and hope to get mine up soon 🙂

Thanks for visiting my blog. It’s always nice to have new visitors. Your house is beautiful!! I don’t think I could post mine as it’s always in disarray….lol!! And I don’t even homeschool!!

I wanted to comment on your last post…. about public school. I have 5 children: 3 go to public and 2 to private. I did use to homeschool, however, I feel now that it is not our time to homeschool anymore, nor does my husband. Just to give you something to think about…. if EVERYONE all christians homeschooled, who would be “in the world”, in the schools witnessing to the children about our Lord and Saviour. I love my children dearly, but we, as a family, have been called, as our ministry to put ourselves out there “in the world, but not of the world” to plant seeds in the Name of our Lord. Believe me it’s not easy, but that is our ministry; we are sometimes slandered by other believers, but we are not here to please people but to please our great God. I’ll blog about it soon. Thanks for listening. And, I’m glad you blogged about that, it gave me something to share with you. I am adding you to my friends list.

Oh, and my daughter rides hunt seat and jumps. I am fasinated by dressage, but have never tried it. I hear that it is very similar to western pleasure, but more “dramatic. Is that true???

What a lovely home you have. I love to look at pictures like that. Maybe I’ll post mine. I just live in one of those manufactured homes, but I like it. Nice and roomy, and cozy. Hope you’re doing well….

    Love, Kathy

Your house is way cool. Everybody should post all their rooms too. First I’d have to pick up. Never mind.
