Okay, I need a little help here!

Okay, me being the ever-productive homeschool mom that I am decided to buy a few educational games at Target the other night.  I've always thought dominos would be so cool to have and would help my kids learn math in a fun way.  One problem.  I never owned dominos as a kid.  In fact, I never played dominos either.  And at the ripe ole age of 41 I still have never played the game.  But, how hard can it be, eh?

HARD!

We bought the cute little Mexican Train set of dominos because of the, well, cute little mexican trains.  My boys all like trains.  Good idea, right?

WRONG!

I can't figure out the game.  My husband can't figure out the game and we'll both settle for learning how to play just plain ole dominos at this point.  Scratch the cute little trains and the nice tin box.  Somebody HELP!!!

Okay, let’s see if I can do this without actually playing the game.

Er, you know what? This will be a really long post if I can figure it out.

There. I put an entry on my blog http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/ChathamMommy/184012.

Let me know if that helps! I’ll try to remember how regular dominoes start later.

The only way I’ve ever played dominoes is to line them all up and start them falling. I forgot there was really a game with them. Love your pics in your blog!

  4. I’m so glad you asked. We were at an outing this past weeken and none of the adults knew how to play when the kids approached us with a set!!

a friend of the family taught us to play over the summer. I went out the next day and bought a set for us. We love to play. One thing I suggest is getting the ‘Old Folk” dominoes that have the numbers instead of the dots. It makes it easier for smaller children to play!

    Choo!!!! Choo!!!!

The trains don’t actually move, they just grow (as you add tiles to them). Pictures. I need to do this with pictures… only I’ve never figured out how to put more than one picture on my blog at a time. Hmm.

Let me play (ha!) with this idea and see if I can get pictures up. That might help. (We don’t have the “official” Mexican train set, but it works the same without the extras).

That’s horrible about all of those nasty emails you had to delete. I didn’t know you could get an email each time you get a comment. I might do that too. I’m glad to hear you’re doing well, but headaches are a pain…..I hope they go away soon. I heard somewhere that you can get rid of a headache almost instantly by drinking two glasses of gatorade one right after the other. I’ve never tried it, but I might next time I have one. I hate getting headaches. I’m not sure how to play dominoes either, but my hubby knows how to. I’ll ask him, and get back with you….glad to hear you’re doing okay….drop by sometime.

    Love, Kathy

My kids are 13 and 8 and we love the mexican train dominoes. I googled how to play it too. You put the double in the center of the hub, and everyone has to play that double and then you keep matching your train by what is on the other end of the double you played. Look it up online it is really fun to play, you guys are missing out!
