Things I will NOT go cheap on!!!

After reading Life with the Crew's blog about “Things I Will Not Go Cheap On”  I decided to join in the fun too.  So here's my list (also in no particular order)

1.  Toilet paper…..enough said
2.  Baby wipes…..I've definitely bought the cheap ones, you know the ones that you need 3 of so you don't get poop on your hands when 1 Huggies wipe would have done the whole job.  My favorite of favorites?  Walmart's wipes for sensitive skin.  Love 'em!!
3.  Paint…..good paint is worth it's weight in gold.
4.  Cheese…..someone ONE time bought me processed cheese food slices instead of the real thing.  That stuff doesn't even melt.  Yuck and double yuck.
5.  Cat litter…..much to my hubbie's shagrin we still have a litter box.  I've tried every kind of cat litter known to mankind.  The crystal kind that you throw completely away and then refill the box with a new bag works marvelously.  It really is the very best in odor elimination/control.  But it ain't cheap!
6.  Chicken Nuggets.  I have found no other nuggets better than Schwan's Chicken Bites.  Everything I see in the grocery store is pressed, processed, glued together chicken parts.  Schwan's actually sells a real piece of chicken in a nugget form.  Yum.  (It's not a daily meal but one I'll feed the whole family once a week or so.)
6.  And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Gatorade.  There just is NO substitute.  I've tried the off brand.  Again, yuck.  My husband and kids love it and I prefer it over tons of fruit juice.  We still drink apple and orange juice but after football practice it's Gatorade all the way!!!

How about you?  What are your favorite “I could never go cheap” things??

Gayle, I hate cheap tin foil too!

And just because I can't bear to post another blog entry without photos here are some from the park today while son #1 and #2 were playing football.  And yes, it's hot here!  100 or so today!!!

You’re absolutely right not to go cheap on paint–my DR ceiling still has stripes on it that will have to be re-done, even after two coats! But my funny story is this: We were moving my grandma in 1994. She had lived in that house since at least 1950. As we were carrying things down the stairs I said, “Well Grandma, you’ve done the right thing–it was either re-paint or move.” (I was trying to be funny.) My great aunt (Grandma’s sister) stiffened up her back and said with great pride, “Well, if you use good paint, you don’t have to paint very often. Lee and I haven’t painted our bedroom in over 20 years!” My husband and I just stood with our mouths agape at such a record, in awe that anyone could live such a boring life and be proud of it! We still laugh about how good paint holds up! : )

I like your list. I’m with you on the cheese too–what is that stuff??

Julie, its late, like 12:40 am late. Just got home and I’m checking e-mails. Me and you girl are aligned on what not to go cheap on. Coffee may be another add. I mainly wanted to say that I love you and I’m amazed out how you can capture the days events so well. You really are the blogqueen. Actually, your my queen and princess bride. I’ll be up in a bit to snuggle with you and the dog (I sniffed her, so she can stay)

Oh, honey, it is HOT here too, in AL! You can just see the heat on those babies faces even though they do look so sweet. 🙂

    I can’t believe I forgot toilet paper!

    Gayle 🙂

    Amen about the paint.

Also power equipment. I bought DH a drill that was from a discount factory store for Cmas and he was sorely disappointed. Not enough power and not a long charge.

Your list sounds just like what I would post, except the Gatorade. I hate Gatorade. LOL I LOVE seeing pics of your kids. They are just too cute! I m beginning to think Crocs are the official shoes of homeschoolers. we love ours!

Hey Julie, your babies are beautiful! That little girl is just precious…..I hope you’re doing well. Haven’t heard from you in a while. I ordered my curriculum, and we’re starting school in a few weeks. Yippee! I get to do it!

    Love, Kathy

WOW on the name thing. My mother named me after Daniel in the Bible. I thought I was the only one. Nice to know that there is another. (My middle name is Celena ALTHOUGH, when I was in highscool, a friend of mine used Elizabeth for everyones middle name: Joseph Elizabeth Jones, Suzie Elizabeth Que…So I have been called Danielle Elizabeth a time or too. )

House sitting was good. Nice central air for the 90’s and 100’s we were having. But back to nothing but ceiling fans and open windows.

I like your list. I will have to think of one of my own.
